This book is a collection of eight short stories written by one of the most important American Black authors James Baldwin. All stories are painful, especially "The Man Child," but the last story, "Going to Meet the Man," based on the history of lynching left me speechless and broken... It is very graphic, so you must have a strong stomach and something to do afterwards that will distract you from becoming depressed at being a human.
