Balor and Ella meet on a flight from Australia to New York with a 5 hours layover in California. Balor is a hacker who works for his Irish mafia family. Balor is only intimate with escorts. He prefers to pay for his pleasure. Ella is dressed very nicely on this flight and he believes she’s an escort and he propositions her. Ella is getting over a really bad relationship and something about Balor attracts her. So these two have a fabulous time together (during their layover) only to find out days later that she and father will be working for Balor. Although this was my first book in the series I got the over protective vibes that all his siblings have for him. Balor although standoffish is very considerate and thoughtful. He really tries to be a good guy, he fights his attraction to her because he knows that there are complications in having a relationship with her. Ella at first was a very sympathetic character because she had been through so much, but I also felt that she sort of took advantage of Balor and she became a little annoying. In books I dislike when women put themselves in situations where they can be harmed or they keep quiet about things they need to share for their protection. This is my own personal issue but it does grate on my nerves when a FMC does this. But, I loved the plot of this story and it was certainly an original one for me. I loved this whole Irish family and cannot wait for Shea’s story. I also plan to go back and read the earlier books on the Astoria Royals. Deborah Garland has gained a new loyal fan.
