Woo!!!! That came out of nowhere like BOOM I'M AMAZING HI. This was the last of N.K. Jemisin's series I had yet to pick up, and her oldest. I was intrigued by the synopsis, don't get me wrong, but when my hold came in at the library, I just somehow wasn't expecting THIS. It's reminiscent of every dark sexy YA fantasy romance out there (in a good way) but with, like, actual good writing, interesting characters, and excellent world-building?? And it's adult, but not too heavy on the sexy times. PLUS it's SO diverse. I'm squealing I loved this so much.
