Hm final verdict would be I liked it. It wasn't stand out of the crowd good but averagely good, ya know?
I liked Bayou and I liked Phoebe. Their romance was different and supposedly Phoebe fell in lurrrrvee with him when she met him at age fifteen. Hmm, I wasn't a fan of that tbh. But the story was cute-ish and I didn't hate it.
I did have issues with LLV (again) and her lack of attention to detail. In Hoax's book their cousin/Bayou's sister Brielle mentioned something about them attending her art show. Hoax, in his thoughts goes on to tell us how much he disliked going to them when he had in the past and how they were stuffy and she never paid attention that they were even there. So naturally I assumed she was an artist or curator or something, righttt? Well obviously not! In the beginning of Bayou's book Brielle throws a tantrum about not getting hired at the prison instead of Phoebe. When Bayou explains why she didn't get it he mentions she has an associates degree in nursing (pediatrics supposedly) where Phoebe had a bachelor's so she was more qualified. And Brielle bitches about her job at the hospital. What? I was totally confused by this.
Add in how we go the whole book, even Hoax's before, where Brielle is a thorn in their side. Needy, whiny, clingy, jealous, bitter and stalkery. And then magically in the epilogue Bayou tells us (6 years later) how Brielle loved his kids and got over her jealousy and anger toward them and their wives because she just wanted Hoax and him to be happy. Uh, what? All that and just everything worked out? Nope. That woman had serious issues and I was surprised in both books when she didn't turn out to be the villian. I refused to accept that tbh.
