This book was just not good 🤮🤮🤮🤮 These ratings are the epitome of the appraisal of White women mediocrity because huh??? 1. What was the point of all the anti China rhetoric. It was extremely forced. Like I'm so curious why she chose to write this book? It would've been much stronger if the focal point would've been within turtle island. Most of the places she went she didn't even end up seeing a bear and if she did it was locked up (?) I cannot believe nearly half of the book was just her commentary visiting the place and shitty geopolitical commentary. As other reviewers have said there's racially coded commentary as well. Also very very weird comments about that one dude teaching the panda bears about the bird and the bees... creepy.  The black bear chapter was by far through strongest for me. The grizzly chapter she insists that she needed to interview the trophy hunter... no, no, no do not recc
