This had more speculative fiction than horror. All of the stories were well-written, but there wasn’t anything particularly electrifying about them. The last story–and the book’s namesake–was the most interesting. → A widower reunites with his resurrected wife in her new body. A slave’s ancestral healing song inspires a plantation. A couple navigates dating during a quarantine. An inmate participates in a clinical trial in exchange for an early release. An autistic boy grapples with the aftermath of his older brother’s death. A man’s life goes awry when he tries to cancel his cloned help subscription. The lives of a group of allies transform after a BLM exhibit. A human, single dad recounts the complexities of raising his half-extraterrestrial son alone.
Moderate: Death, Racism, Violence, Medical content, Grief, and Murder
Minor: Cancer, Confinement, Slavery, Suicide, Police brutality, Stalking, Pregnancy, and Pandemic/Epidemic
