I've only been reading 200+ pages books this year so picking this up involved a lot of hesitation because I didn't wanna start another book only to abandon it so when I started reading it, I was LOCKED tf in. It didn't help that some reviews I saw said how the story seemed to drag on and that the romance started WAY later in the book, which was a big deal to me considering I wanted to read this for the sports ROMANCE. But, even with all that, I gave this a try because it seemed promising or at least nice. And it was! It really was.
This book fits best readers that love, or at least like, slow burn. I wouldn't completely say this is slow-phased because it didn't really feel that way to me. Brady and Nick's relationship progress was just right, it felt natural and it was fun to see them fall in love slowly but surely. The side characters were all pretty fun too, you can never go wrong with found family. Even if none of the characters completely captured my heart, it was plenty fun to just see how they work with each other.
I had little to none complain about this book, my biggest one probably would be that the book ends just as Brady and Nick's relationship was starting. I really wanted to see more of them for a while considering it took the whole book for them to finally get together which---although satisfying---felt like we deserved at least 2 more chapters to see them lovey-dovey. I read the whole book anyway, I wouldn't have minded a few dozen pages more. But all in all, this was an enjoyable light-hearted read and another win for the gay sports romance community!
