I truly respect what Guild is trying to do here, and I do like the themes and metaphors and messages happening (the idea of an app for terrorism/shootings and the phrase “prob dead” to describe your loved one in said event made me lol and also oh no that could be totally plausible) but I continued to feel dumber and more irritated with each passing chapter. The dialogue style, while it makes sense for the world he is building, was excruciating to read. And the sitcom episode chapter I got through was just too dreamlike, too strange, I felt like I was maybe losing my mind but not in a fun way. I’m down for weird books, but reading this made me feel astonishingly angry the entire time, so I’m going to save my time and go elsewhere!
