How to Be Parisian Wherever You Are: Love, Style, and Bad Habits by Audrey Diwan, Caroline de Maigret, Anne Berest
4.0
I am still reading this so the rating is not final. But I thought I had to write a reason that I am reading this book. I am not a self-help, kinda girl. Nor do I think that Parisians have something that is more interesting than say a New Yorker, but it is different. Anyway one sentence, idea made me want to read the book. Caroline de Maigret said something to the effect. "My mother always told me 'Always be ready to meet someone.'" Not in the walk-around-the-corner-and-run-into-your-future-husband kind of way but more in the You may meet your favorite author, artist, hero, icon or President kind of way. So have a sense of what is going on in the world, read that latest book, pull yourself and present yourself in a way, everyday that shows you are ready. I love that idea so I am giving this book a try.
About halfway through, these are series of short essays/sketches that are actually rather smart, quirky and funny. Worth reading.
