Defiant by Brandon Sanderson
5.0
After how lackluster Cytonic and, to a lesser degree, Starsight felt for me, I was contemplating dropping the series, and, oh, I'm glad I didn't.
Not only is Defiant an extremely satisfying conclusion to what Skyward introduced, but it also pulls the previous books together nicely, giving me new appreciation for the stories they contained. Spensa's growth, interactions between older and newer characters, the sheer epicness of the scale of the story made this feel like a proper, cheesy space opera again and I'm all here for it.
Intrigued in what Skyward Legacies will look like, hoping for less of a strict Hero's Journey act structure and more of a fun exploratory romp.
