The Silent Watcher by Victor Methos

4.0

This was an interesting police procedural; however, I struggled with caring about the characters. Well, I didn’t care about most of them, but I did like Sophie and my heart went out to her. To go through what she did would be terrifying. Piper was hit and miss for me as a character. For some reason I still can’t quite put my hand on, I just didn’t like her. I also didn’t like Detective Lazarus, and the relationship between him and Piper just didn’t work for me. I did enjoy the courtroom scenes; they were really good and made me feel like I was right there with the characters. The pacing was quick and did help suck me into the story. The writing was nice and despite not liking the characters, I felt engaged and invested in how things were going to turn out. I appreciated the short chapters because they made the story that much faster.

If you’re looking for a fun police procedural with a dash of courtroom drama, then you should check this one out.
