This book. I mean, this book. I finished it two days ago and haven't been able to stop thinking about it since, and I likely won't for some time. It's no surprise that this was a National Book Award nominee. It's lyrical and strange and such a beautifully unique plot. The characters are also beautifully drawn, and their interactions are so real and true feeling. Everything about this book is perfect. It's also the perfect kind of magical realism, where you don't feel the need to question everything. Just allowing the beauty to wash over you as it comes is enough.
