Amber Reynolds is a liar, she's also in a coma and thinks that someone put her there on purpose. Deep in her sleep in a hospital room, Amber begins to piece together the last weeks before her accident through those around her, revealing a terrifying and unsettling lead-up to a car crash that almost left her dead. Through a childhood diary, the days before the accident, and her current life in a coma, the readers see into Amber's past and down a twisty path with shocking revelations.
I have to applaud Alice Feeney for her writing style which was poetic and engaging. She really got into the head of each character and made us, the reader, feel sorry for them, vengeful, angry and upset about their trauma, but there was too much in this book that went unanswered for me to log it as a satisfying read. Characters not having motives, others getting away with heinous crimes with no justice, and a very confusing plot twist that had me considering getting out a pen and paper to try and break it down. I will read more books by Alice because her writing style gels with me, but this one was too over the top to be enjoyable.
