Another banger (excuse the pun) from Tessa Dare. Honestly this was once again just such a fun read.

A hopelessly book-smart, hidden gem of a young lady teams up with a worldly, sweetheart-at-his-core rakish lord to travel accros the country to fulfil her scholarly dreams and they end up fighting their trauma together and falling in love.
Very predictable storyline interspersed with some fantastic banter and some great spice. Some parts were a tad unrealistic but who cares lol, this was very fun.

Kinda felt a lil rushed towards the end for me, and their feelings seemed to spring a little out of nowhere, or at the very least their voicing of their feelings did, but compared to everything else I liked I could forgive this.

I loved how much our hero respected our fmc for her brain. For all his flaws he never once insulted her intelligence to make himself feel better, he just constantly admired her for it n I adored that.

I also just rlly like the banter in Dare’s books. Sometimes historical romances can feel a lil odd for me when everyone is 100% prim and proper all the time and no one is just chilling as themselves, but in all her books I’ve read so far they speak like normal people (but obviously still using language of the time).

Honestly I may be accidentally going down the Tessa Dare/historical romance rabbit hole but I’m not sure if I really mind.
