Firstly: always be sure to check your content warnings. They are there for a reason.
Two: make sure you have plenty of tissues ready. I should not have read this while in public. Oof. It’s been a long time since a book has wrecked me this much. Fully sobbing at some points. There were a lot of sensitive topics hit close to home and were done so well, with such informed compassion and realism. I absolutely love Bailey Hannah’s writing style. She is unpretentious and funny and authentic, and every piece of dialogue is realistically conversational.
and Three: God d*mn it do I love a second chance romance. It’s guaranteed to make me weak in the knees every time. Denver Wells has just surpassed almost every other book boyfriend on my list. He was just the sweetest, swooniest, most down-bad-for-his-girl, reformed playboy who loves his mama, cowboy gentleman. It was so clear how deeply he loved Blair and how desperately he was trying to take care of her and prove they belonged together. And they absolutely do, no question.
The moments between Blair, Denver, and each of their Moms were heartwarming and heartbreaking all at once. The fact that they had each other to lean on just strengthened their relationship even more. The dual timeline gave us the history we needed to understand just how deep the connection between Blair and Denver was.
Ugh there are so many spoilers I want to scream about! This book is going to stick with me for days, if not months. Please, I beg you, read this as soon as possible, then slide into my DMs so we can gush about it together. I’m pretty sure Bailey is already sick of seeing my name in her notifications.
Oh. I will say something about the scene after Austin & Cece’s wedding because ho-lee sh!t that was some of the hottest spice I’ve ever read. Jeeeeeeeezuss.
The little snippet of Kate and Jackson’s backstory?
The easter eggs for the next book in the series? I will be impatiently waiting for more.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
