been simply reflecting on this one for a while now. this book is truly pure magic. ✨

I’ve now read AMARI AND THE NIGHT BROTHERS twice in the span of a few months. first as an audiobook by myself on my drives to and from work. second with my 4th grade class as our first whole class novel. what a gift it was to experience the magic and wonder of a book I so wish I had as a kid with the eighteen 9 and 10 year olds that I spend the majority of my days with.

through unmistakable Black Girl Magic, Amari shares with anyone who reads her story lessons on self-confidence and family. with weredragons, magicians, and mystery (I wish y’all could’ve heard the gasps that happened when we read the plot twists) it also tackles current issues surrounding racism, stereotypes, prejudice, socioeconomic status, and discrimination.

one of my favorite reads ever. I cannot wait for the sequel to come out this summer 💙
