Brazen Affairs by Ashley James

First of all, I want to say that [a:Ashley James|17766536|Ashley James|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png] is one of my MUST READ authors. I don't care what she writes, I'm going to read it because I KNOW it's going to be good.

Second, and something that surprised me, I did not immediately fall in love with these two characters as I do every time I read ne of her stories. But make no mistake, I absolutely LOVED the book. Let me explain.

In this book we find an Ashley who does not give us a story full of anguish, pain, or deep trauma. There is a little bit, but not what she has us used to. So what happened to these characters? That I felt them so real, so human, so imperfect, that it was hard for me to love them. I mean, here we don't have an enchanted prince, or a knight in shining armor, or a Don Quixote willing to lash out against terrible monsters (like drugs, or abusive parents, or taboos). No. Here we have two human beings who couldn't be more different than night and day, and who each have to overcome real life daily obstacles, such as divorces, or being jobless, or deciding that life is more than just a sexual connection.

It was like meeting two familiar people in life, who have real flaws and react in a real way. And with this I don't want to say that the characters of his previous books weren't "real", it's just that with those as soon as you read the first line you already knew they were going to suffer horrors and you simply wanted to hug them and protect them. And Vaughn with his seriousness and his stiffness and Cam with his indifferent indifference (yes, excuse the redundance) and his "I laugh at everything" attitude... well, at first I just wanted to slap them. But only at the beginning. As the story progresses, all you can do is cheer over and over again for them to reach their HEA.

And I was left with so many questions... (MAYBE SPOILERS) such as:

What happened during those three years? Were there more collaborations? Were they exclusive? Did Blair ended homeless? (I'm sure hope so!) Or did she see them again together happiest than ever? And OMG so many more! And to think that at first I didn't love them, and now I DON'T WANT TO LET THEM GO!

Another amazing story from this author, that ended too soon and left me looking forward to the next one!

I was given an advanced copy and wrote a voluntarily review.
