365 Reasons to Be Cheerful: Magical Moments to Cheer Up Miserable Sods One Day at a Time by Richard Happer
5.0
Instead of telling you all why you should read this (because you should), I'm going to show you. By quoting passages. Hold on, you're in for a ride of interesting facts you didn't know you wanted to know. The way I'm going to do this is by kindly informing you what it relates to, and then I'll throw hysterical quotes at you. Which are possibly not funny unless you've read the entire passage and know the full context. This is me trying to convince you to read the book.
That's all.
24 April: Trojans 0, Greeks 1:Great reasoning, sir.
"Now, there are clearly many options to be considered, and not everyone is an expert military strategist, but it should be pretty clear that at no point whatsoever should to tow the horse into the city, get pissed and go to bed. See what I mean? Idiots."
29 August: World Bog Snorkelling Championship:
"Sometimes when life deals people lemons, they make lemonade. So when life deals people a peak bog, its about that what's needed is a bog snorkelling championship."
20 August: Air Guitar World Championship:That right there, that's the place for me to be.
"Thanks to the Air Guitar World Championship, which was first held today in 1996, there is a place where your talents of being able to to do nothing are taken seriously."
22 September: Hobbit Day:
"Today is the birthday of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins."
That's all.
5 October: Monty Python:As much as I love Monty Python, this one made it here because of the Dane who died. That is just too good. (and before you get all offended, I'm Danish)
"Today's first episode included "The Funniest Joke in the World", a classic sketch about a joke so amusing that anyone who hears it will die laughing. In a fittingly surreal way, the Python's were so funny they actually managed this feat: in 1989, a Danish audiologist died laughing while watching "A Fish Called Wanda."
Right, I'm going to stop now. But between these (possibly) witty and humorous entries, you'll find that 365 Reasons to be Cheerful is full of interesting facts (and totally useless, but useless facts are better than no facts). And the best thing? They'll all cheer you up. Because that's what this is all about. Reasons to be cheerful. And here's a collection of no less than 365 brilliant reasons and you better read it.
