The Housemaid's Secret by Freida McFadden

dark mysterious tense fast-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? No
  • Loveable characters? No
  • Diverse cast of characters? No
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

AHHHHH I can’t believe I binged this in one night! after loving THE HOUSEMAID (despite its similarities to another popular thriller), I was cautiously optimistic about the sequel!

I was among the few that was satisfied with the ending of THE HOUSEMAID and didn’t think it needed a sequel - so I was worried it was going to go the way of colleen hoover and virtually have zero plot. I should know better to never doubt freida 🫡

I loved millie’s character development and the idiotic fact that she’s still a housemaid despite all the trauma she went through! this time, she’s working for the garricks in their penthouse apartment - and of course, not everything is as it seems 😅 I’d be out of there so fast, but nope millie has a heart of gold and wants to help

millie is 100% too trusting, except when it comes to the men in her life, and I hated that for her (but also it’s what makes the story so interesting)

the initial plot twist was easy for me to guess, but I should have known that it was only the beginning 😳 I was thrown for a loop in the last half for sure!

I BOW DOWN TO FREIDA FOREVER THANK YOU
