After All the Wreckage by L.J. Evans

5.0

I am convinced that the author can write just about anything and I'll read it. She writes small town romantic suspense that just reels me in from the very beginning. When childhood friends Rory Bishop and Gage Palmer meet again it's not under the best of circumstances. But Gage needs Rory's help to find his younger brother. Gage's family isn't your average unit. He's the guardian for his two younger siblings, not just custodial but also the keeper of their other abilities. Monte and Ivy have visions. Most people don't believe what they see. But when Rory's family and Gage's family are somehow mixed in the same situation, they work tirelessly together.

While this book ends with the HEA (it's romance so it's a given), the path to that HEA isn't always smoothly paved. For Gage and Rory, their age differences and their beliefs sometimes clashed. But their attraction and chemistry never waned. Whether in or out of the bedroom, Rory and Gage were yin and yang, able to stand on their own but still needing a pillar of support. I'll be honest, The Painted Daisies was my favorite series of 2023 and I didn't think the author could top it. I was wrong. This author has what it takes to hook the reader and keep the suspense going until just the right moment.

I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.
