"I never thought I could love someone so unlike me. That being so different from someone could make me feel right at home rather than every kind of wrong. But each moment I spent with you, every time we pretended, the strangest thing happened... It became real. Every way you were my opposite only made me want you more, every secret part of you that you entrusted to me only made me ache to trust you just as much. And then I realized that difference that I couldn't get enough of... that strange, perfect intensity between us... it was love, beyond anything I'd ever known. I fell in love with you, so wildly, Bea. I love nothing in the world as I love you. And maybe you find that strange, but if you do ... I hope it's the best kind of strange, the kind that you might one day feel, too."
omg i loved this book and i did not expect to at all tbh!! jamie and bea had such amazing chemistry from the moment they met, they literally had me giggling and kicking my feet in the air LMAO. the opposites attract trope+fake dating= SO FUN TO READ I LOVE IT. also oh my GOD when i tell you that jamie is the most perfect boyfriend ever, I MEAN IT. i'm actually obsessed with him he is so so so so adorable. the things he does and says for bea are SO FUCKING ROMANTIC THEY MADE ME WANT TO CRYYYY. he speaks french to her (sexy af), cooks her meals (tried 4 different recipes to made sure she liked it), dances with her, loves her art and paints with her, gives her so much sweet physical touch (lol i'm biased because that's my love language too) and he is genuinely so smart and emotionally mature (again, sexy af wtf) which is so rare for a romance book bf in my opinion.
that's another thing i loved about the book; jamie and bea had such clear communication from the beginning, no stupid miscommunication trope. HOWEVER, i will say that i thought the reason for the 3rd act break up was so absurdly stupid. they literally broke up for 10 pages because bea's sister was going through heartbreak so bea told jamie that they couldn't be together because it would make her sister sad?? like wtaf?? i have an older sister, and if she was going through a breakup and i said i was going to break up with my boyfriend because seeing us together would "make her sad", or some shit, she would slap me in the face. in my opinion, no good sibling would ever want you to sacrifice your own relationship just for the sake of their breakup, like obviously you should help your loved ones through hard times, but that doesn't mean you have to cut out other people who YOU love and who make YOU happy. just do both bitch. it didn't do any good other than make both bea and jamie miserable for 10 pages and i don't think it served any purpose to the plot, that part should have just been cut out because there was just no need.
anyways, other than that small part i literally loved the book; it made my romantic sentimental ass heart so happy<333 if goodreads had the option i would give it 4.5
