The Forever Neighbor by Rye Cox

4.0

This was a childhood best friends to lovers story with a heartfelt twist.

Jason and Will have known each other forever, neither had a great childhood, fraught with poverty and struggles. Over time their friendship became all they had to feel safe and grounded. They are inseparable and highly co-dependent. As well, Will has been harbouring a lifelong crush on Jason. When it becomes too much he has to decide to pull away or tell Jason how he really feels.

I was pleased to see how their co-dependency was dealt with and their relationship ultimately progressed, because as much as I loved how sweet they were together, their learning to love themselves as individuals was deeply satisfying.
