I received this book in my night worms, and given the cover, I thought I was going to be getting something much more cynical.
However I still appreciate the storytelling and how two guys living on the streets faces adversity. Especially given the one older man is black and ridiculed the most throughout the story. 
I wouldn't go into this expecting it to be a thriller or horror. Go into it knowing it's more of a human study after a tragedy that has a dark past.
