As much as I liked some parts of the book, others left me indifferent. I felt like I was being blown hot and cold. Some scenes were poignant and moving and then, bang, it all came crashing down like a soufflé.

I don’t have much to say about the main characters in this book. At times, Kayla seemed a little too naive for her age, but managed to balance that with a great deal of maturity when it came to her 6-year-old son, Jimmy. Charge, on the other hand, came across as a ‘good guy’ who relied too much on his laid-back personality to not take matters into his own hands as he should—especially when dealing with Harper, his ex-girlfriend.

All in all, I had a good read, but I doubt I’ll be reading the rest of the series, I don’t think it’s for me.
