When looking past the author's style of writing, the story was okay. It wasn't great. I found that the characters were unbelievable though... that is probably because we already KNOW these characters. I acknowledge, that must make writing these twisted tales a little more difficult, but I still was disappointed. The characters just didn't act like I expected them to. I really dislike the way this author describes things as well. She tends to OVER describe things that really don't need it. And the wording she uses... it's not very common knowledge, making the writing feel less accessible (I hope that makes sense)

And I cannot finish this review without a small rant about the portion of the story where they had a full on conversation about... octopuses (or, excuse me, "octopodes" 🙄). And seriously, when we finally are released from the torture of that because the characters realize it is a pointless conversation... ONE HAS TO GO RIGHT BACK TO IT?! This gave NOTHING to the plot, and only made me want to bash my head into a wall.

So basically, the characters are unbelievable, the writing is not very good, but the overall plot was fine I guess.
