Sinfully Mine by Nicky James
1.0
I should have listened to the all the lower rated reviews for this one, but I was riding my high from End Scene and went into Sinfully Mine with high expectations. It was surprising the number of issues Sinfully Mine had whereas End Scene felt page after page like the perfect book. Even though they both have taboo brotherly love and are written by the same author, they are opposites in almost every other way.
It felt like Sinfully Mine wasn’t sure what it’s plot was or if it even had a plot at all. Everything dragged for the entirety of the book, and while I love a slow burn romance more than anything, what is the point of a slow burn if you aren’t going to fill the pages with romantic tension and burning? I was on board with Sinfully Mine taking it’s time to heat thing up, but when I was more than half way through and still wondering the same thing, I knew this would not be another five star read for me.
Sinfully Mine lacked direction, it lacked excitement, and it lacked drive. Our mcs spend most of their time doing boring, mundane things like skiing, teaching, washing the dishes, or some other ordinary task that made me forget that this was supposed to be a forbidden romance book.
What I did like was the dynamic between Emery and Kai. I like the protective, authoritative older brother and submissive, needy younger brother dynamic, but it just wasn’t explored enough for me to care about them and their relationship. The two of them didn’t have enough moments together to have a satisfying build up. Their relationship was boring, despite the tabooness of it.
