A little too horrific for my taste. I suppose the verb-first dialogue tags (e.g., “said Coraline) are meant to evoke old-fashioned children’s books, but I found them repetitive to the point of distraction. The final quest was anticlimactic. Other than that, a fascinating story that creates an immersive dark fantasy realm.
