The Frugal Wizard's Handbook for Surviving Medieval England by Brandon Sanderson

3.0

This was an unusual read and not what I was expecting

As part of the secret projects, this definitely felt like a side project. I only say this because Tress felt like a quality novel and could’ve easily been released like every other book and I wouldn’t have thought any different, I think the bar was set quite high for these projects because of this

I’m always game for authors to write a story out of their usual genre, at least they’re trying to mix it up and experiment with different ideas. I liked some of the humour and the concepts and it had a strong start but it just felt non-plus as the pages went by

What I did enjoy the most about this was the sections that explained the handbook in this story, it’s a very thought out and detailed creation and it was almost convincing that it could’ve been real

I thought the plot was a little bland and not the usual magical adventure that I am used to, it felt very surface level and I also couldn’t really gel with the main character either meaning I didn’t really care about his lost memories and his quest to get them back

I have heard great things from the third secret project so I’m ready for Yumi!
