This is soft sci-fi at its ooey-gooey-est. I’m typically not a big fan of hard sci-fi, but parts of this were almost too soft even for me. I wish more time was spent discussing the rest of the world’s feelings about Stellas, or the technology that went into them—though it being told singularly through Annie’s POV, it makes sense that it’s not there. It’s definitely not a perfect book, and I wish it dug a bit deeper into certain things, but boy did I have fun reading it.

Jennifer Jill Araya was an excellent choice for the audio narrator—she struck the perfect balance between robot, naïveté, and feeling.
