”She’s not prissy or high maintenance. She’s down to earth, and I love that about her. Even if she is delusional about accepting compliments.”
Willa Grant is a bartender whose plans for the summer doesn’t end up working out, so her best friend Summer recommend that she be a nanny for Summer’s boyfriend’s grumpy older brother, Cade. Initially their first encounter puts Cade off Willa as a nanny, but she ends up clicking really fast with 5 year old Luke - who is the coolest kid alive. Willa being the carefree, independent woman who goes with the flow ends up clashing a bit with grumpy Cade.
Cade Eaton is a farmer and has been looking for a new nanny for his son Luke for the summer, and has exhausted his entire family in the process of finding someone. Cade is initially reluctant on Willa being Luke’s nanny but after seeing them spend some time together offers her the job. Cade has always been the responsible one, but Willa’s go with the flow attitude ends up working for both of the Eaton jobs, and her loyalty ends up swaying Cade on Willa as a person.
I felt that Willa and Cade had more depth to them as main characters, and I loved how carefree Willa was, and I feel like everyone strives to be like her on some level, while everyone are Cade - scared to let go and just focuses on all their responsibilities. I love that we also got to see some glimpses of Willa and Summer together <3.
What I’m really ended up loving about Willa and Cade is that Cade sees Willa with Luke and loves how they truly love each other, but he also sees her outside of that and sees just what an amazing person she is in general. I love that Willa sees what an amazing person Cade is - just not scowling - and loves bringing him out of his shell. She also sees how he cares for everyone around him, without him saying it. They were able to explain to each other what they loved about each other. I also loved Willa and Luke’s interactions with each other and see their relationship grow. What I missed was the post-its that Cade leaves Willa - it was kind of forgotten about and I was then reminded of the end about it again and I missed it.
I am also, patiently waiting for my Winter and Summer reunion, and her redemption! (She got a small one in this book).
