Because the death of Avitas Harper left me numb.
After a certain point, I won't be surprised if Sabaa Tahir ends up killing each and every character in this kicka$$ dark series. But certainly, after Harper's death, my brain stopped working. Helene Aquilla lost each and every member of her family starting from her father, mother, and sister Hannah. Commandant murders her younger sister Livvy in this 4th book. Even after all those suffering when love finally blooms in her life, fate carries that away from her too.
It hurts even you see Darin dies. It all started from Darin only, Martials arresting him and Laia taking this vow to save Darin's life. She lost him too, her only blood of hers left on the planet.

LOVE is the reason why it all started. It is love because of which Meherya sought his vengeance from the humans. Love is why Keris turned into a monster. Because of Elias bounded himself to the Waiting Place. Harper sacrificed himself for Love. And this goes on..
Love is why Laia won the fight against Meherya which stopped him from bringing the Sea of Suffering into the world.
