Truly the book of the summer! The mood, pace, and content was perfect to race through on a few uncomfortably hot days. I loved that it was a thriller that was shaped by characters and their motivations, allowing all of their actions to flow from a natural place, rather than being forced along by plot. The story was perfectly plotted and paced, well rounded, and organized in a way that made the time jumps make sense. The tension between wealth and poverty, between nature and “civility,” and between calm and panic, was very compelling and elevated the thriller elements. I flew through this one, one of the most un-put-downable books ive read this year!
