The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
5.0
I love this book! A page-turning story in the Gothic style of classics like Jane Eyre or The Woman in White, but with a modern feel. A story about book-lovers and worshipers of words that real-life readers will relate to and empathize with. When I finally found myself within the last 50 pages - the ending was even better than I expected and not at all what I had guessed. It is not easy to write a novel where the ending makes perfect sense in hindsight, but isn't easily guessed at along the way - Ms. Setterfield does an excellent job. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves books about book-lovers, stories featuring well-written female characters, mysteries, or classic Gothic stories.
