I cried a lot while reading this. I should have better prepared myself. I had no real knowledge of what the book was about I just knew it was a book that everyone labeled as a "must read." I'm not upset that I read it. It was an important story that needed to be told. It opened my eyes to a lot of things that I had little or no knowledge of. This book messed with my head for weeks after.
