I’m going to be honest that this was a surprisingly enjoyable read for me. I think this is perfect for anybody who would like a soft, horror book but nothing too crazy. As a person who doesn’t read horror, I really enjoy this one.
This book is essentially Carrie, but in today’s time, and with a black protagonist. The dynamic and relationships between the characters were really well done, the way the author retails a story that a lot of people know, but still makes it her own and interesting is really well done. The only gripe I had is I found the main male lead to start falling in “love” with the female protagonist a little too quickly.
I also really liked the podcast aspect of the story. It reminded me of Sadie by Courtney Summers and if you loved that book you’ll love this one.
I highly recommend the audiobook. It has a full cast audio, and each narrator does a phenomenal job. It really added an extra layer to the story that was so easily consumable.
