Butcher & Blackbird by Brynne Weaver

5.0

This book was one of those things I didn't know I needed until I read it. It was the perfect love story. I loved that the two main characters where serial killers who killed other serial killers. So if Dexter is your jam you will probably enjoy this book. One would think well how could their be anything funny about a serial killer romance... and let me tell you... Brynne Weaver shows you! Everything in this book was magical. Rowan has quickly become one of my favorite male characters. However, Sloane is a bigger force to be reckoned with and I love it. I also want to say that the trigger warnings in this book.. some of them had me so interested I had no choice but to read the book to figure out how that worked.
I loved the way the two characters complimented each other. They work so well together and you can logically see them as a couple. I think the serial killer element works well in this story because it provides some perfect bonding moments for them. I mean they make a game out of it for crying out loud! I want to tell you something terrible about this book I really do, but I just can't. I loved every second of it and tried to stretch it out for as long as I could. I mean it has banter and I mean perfect banter. It's a slow burn but my god it works so well and the explosion is fantastic. The writing style just keeps you invested. Both characters are super lovable. It's just this perfect culmination of everything that makes you fall in love. It's serious but here enjoy these light hearted moments to make it a little easier to stomach. However, it has ruined cookies and cream ice cream for me forever and ever.
