The Vegetarian by Han Kang
dark
medium-paced
2.5
Yet another author succeeded in depicting the battles women (in general) goes through, how they are more locked in to the lives of their families, and husbands. Women tend to get less choices, and tend to "have to make a sacrifice" while the men gets to make selfish decisions.
This is a powerful little book with less than 200 pages, yet every underlying message under every sentence and paragraph packs a punch to the gut.
The main character of this story is unreliable, to the point her story is told from three different people's perspective (her husband, her brother in law, and her sister).
Check the trigger warnings before you start, this is a disturbing read, not gory or anything like it, but disturbing to the mind.
If you do get the message of the book, then brace yourself to feel it's impact.
2.5 stars, not because this is a bad book, but because I couldn't resonate personally with the narrative.
It's a good book though, give it a read.
