By Sin I Rise: Part One by Cora Reilly

4.0

I love me some Cora Reilly no matter how repetitive people say the stories become, and while this one deviated from strictly mafia by bringing in Tartarus MC that’s been shown in previous books, I quite enjoyed that fact. It was different and refreshing without being too far fetched.

Again, since this club has a history with the Famiglia, it works. More importantly, this very history is the reason this book even takes place. After Luca destroyed the club, leaving Maddox alive, who was unknowingly watching the death, Maddox rightly wants Luca to pay. Jump forward in the years to this book, and he kidnaps Marcella, Luca and Aria’s daughter.

I was really into this book but I do need to knock off a star for some of the things I didn’t like. For example, the progression between Marcella and Maddox was really great right up until they had sex, and then BOOM, they’re both obsessed with each other and throwing out possible terms like love and wanting her there with him always. I just found this switch almost too quick. I understand the author needed to bring this part to an end and give reason for how it ended (!!!! btw) but… idk. She’s written longer, developed romances before (Fina and Remo’s) and it worked well, so I suppose I would have enjoyed that.

Either way, I’m so happy to having returned to this world. All it’s done is make me excited for Remo’s kid and Amo.
