The Henna Wars by Adiba Jaigirdar

5.0

i have never in my life, in my 24 years of life, read a book about a bangladeshi girl, living in a predominantly white place, with bangladeshi parents, speaking bengali, and celebrating herself. i cried when i finished it and i don't know why. this book was so special to me for a hundred thousand reasons, but mostly it's because if a 16 year old rayna had read this, her life would have been changed forever. it was written well, it was the sweetest story, it made me so happy. i would put it right next to a plaque that says gold standard of adorable teen romances. gosh. my heart is singing.
