stopped because thereare too many unbearable tropes of old fantasy books in the first chapter alone
- the girl is told by her brother to make camp (sexist jerk)
- she's subjected to oggling and leering by people who capture her (sexist and machist trope)

and now i realize i also didn't read past the first chapter of Queen of the Wyrd, by the same author. Makes sense, really.
