This was my first book by Laura McHugh but it definitely won't be my last. I couldn't stop listening once I started. A small, poor town in MO is the setting and the hardships that those who live there face every day just to survive is a main part of the story. Devotion to family is both a curse and a blessing in this book and the ending was something I never suspected.
