wow wow wow!!! I am crying poolside right now because this book was everything 🥹🥹
somehow, I always read emily henry books at the exact time that I need them! both BEACH READ and PWMOV hit me so hard because my life mirrored its art - and now this one came to me in my moments of my quarter life crisis
what I loved possibly the most about HAPPY PLACE was that it wasn’t just a story about wyn and harriet’s relationship, but also the deep friendship between them, sabrina, cleo, kimmy and perth! and a realistic messy angsty one too!
relationships and friendships are far from perfect, and holding onto one’s past just because they’re afraid of the future leads to stalemates. I absolutely loved how these friends communicated how they were scared of change!! it’s so real!!
wyn and harriet are not the perfect couple at all 😅 they’re messy and broken and assume the worst of themselves before even voicing it to another, and yet, they make each other so whole 🥹 I was screaming at them the entire time to work on themselves first before trying to fix each other!!!!
at the end of the day, stories about working on oneself really get me because it took me wayyyyy too long in my life to realize it 🩷 this story was definitely a happy place for me too, especially as I saw so much of myself in all of the characters
emily henry has done it again, cementing another top favorite book for me!
