Such a lovely and thoughtful book. Told over the course of a summer, a teenage girl is sent to stay with her estranged father. He speaks Spanish, she speaks English, things are not off to a great start. He's renovating a brownstone building and the two of them start to work together and figure out how to communicate through his girlfriend (?) and the rest of the neighborhood. The art is beautiful, and I loved the chapter drawings that showed the progress they've made on the house.
