Love Is a Revolution by Renée Watson
3.0
I haaaaaaate when characters lie about who they are just to date someone. Literally who does that. Then when Nala rejects Tye's thoughtful water bottle gift because he was under the impression she was an activist who cares about the environment, she acts like it's his fault he didn't get her a gift suited to her true personality?????????? In what world would these two actually date each other???????
Also the message at the end of the book didn't really come through for me. "Nala, you need to learn to love yourself." I never got the idea that Nala didn't love herself. She just "loved" Tye so much she justified lying to him so she could "get to know him." Yeah this book just fell flat all around
