The CEO Enemy by Jolie Day
4.0
Do y’all ever have brain block when you go to review a book you literally just finished yesterday?
Anyway, Jess gets locked out of her apartment wearing only a towel, so naturally she knocks on her new neighbor’s door. He answers it completely naked. I mean, of course he does. Who wouldn’t? So there’s our naked meet-cute.
He’s pretty grumpy at first and she’s Sally Sunshine. They run into each other in a bar later and engage in some neighborly shenanigans. Then the other shoe drops when she finds out he’s the billionaire CEO who just bought her partner’s share in their hotel chain and he wants her to sell her half too.
Sean is honest, upfront, and can we applaud a CEO with a work-life balance? Jess is well-aware he’s anxious for her to sell, but also anxious to take every pair of panties she owns.
Jess has some trust issues due to her previous relationship with a CEO, so she has a strict (ish) no dallying with CEOs rule. Sean annihilates that rule fairly quickly with his coffee runs and art-buying. They begin a mutually beneficial relationship that obviously turns to real feelings.
I listened to this narrated by @offmicandi and @therealjacobmorgan and it is as perfect as I knew it would be. The teasing, playful banter is chef’s kiss. These two deliver everything you want in a romcom.
I’m pretty sure this was my first @joiledayauthor book, but it won’t be my last. I enjoyed the hell out of it.
Have you ever had your own workplace romance? I’ve had multiple and married the last one. ♥️
