The Mistake by Elle Kennedy
3.0
Not my favorite so far of the off campus series but granted I’m only on Book 2. John just wasn’t as believable I feel like for one thing, and to an extent some of the hockey players just aren’t. I went to a hockey school so there’s two things I noticed with this series that just aren’t accurate:
1) All Division 1 hockey players are on scholarship (The Deal)
And
2) All Division 1 hockey players at least try to get into the NHL-the fact that John wouldn’t even try to get drafted just isn’t realistic to me I guess even with his family motive
The other thing I absolutely hated about this book was when they’re climbing up the water tower in that scene he says “All 90 pounds of you” and she says “Actually 120 pounds” and I’m sorry but that gave me literally the biggest eye roll of my life. I get that there are adult women who actually are 120 pounds-but they are not the norm and to be honest I’m just sick of hearing it and seeing it portrayed everywhere as the ideal type.
Beyond that, the smut was well done I thought, but those scenes are always for the most part in her books (from what I’ve read so far anyway)
All in all, didn’t hate it, didn’t particularly love it either but also I am going to read the rest of the series because I love this little Briar world I must say.
