The writing was very repetitive and the part I stopped reading at was very info-dumpy. It felt like the author was talking down to the reader/thought that the reader was not paying attention or something with the amount and type of information repeated. The overall concept and plot was intriguing and I was interested in the world and what was going to happen next, but the writing style did it for me.
Also, the main characters felt younger than 16 and the overall book does not feel like YA. I have read middle grades that seem to target an older age demographic. I am just overall confused with what the target demographic and marketing of the book.
