I'm convinced everything Hosseini writes is magic. I first read The Kite Runner, and now this, and they're both so powerful and beautifully written. He introduces us to the tragedies of Afghanistan, and we meet "real" Afghani people whom we come to love, and some who ultimately break our hearts. I thought I was reading this book years "late" but unfortunately, the situation currently unfolding in Afghanistan today is not dissimilar to what we see in the book. Now I must read A Thousand Splendid Suns.
