I don't even know if this would be considered magical realism -- the fantastic elements are limited to brief chapters at the beginning of each of the three sections. This is an interesting depiction of slum life in India and the frustration of having no answers, but too many elements were introduced for the end resolution of the main mystery to be satisfying.
