Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
1.0
Alex Claremont Diaz is the son of Mrs. President Ellen Claremont of the United States of America. Alex and his family go to Prince Philips's wedding in England. At the wedding, Alex and Prince Philip's younger brother Henry has an improper moment resulting in Alex and Henry having to put on a show of friendship for the public. When they are forced to be together a real friendship blooms and later something more.
I had high expectations for this book. The First Son and one of England's royals getting together is a fascinating idea. But when these two actually get together their connection felt awkward, and the banter between the two was so continuous that it didn't feel very romantic? Also, the scenes and tone were jumping around all the time it was hard to stay interested. I would have liked to read more minor characters' backgrounds. There were funny and cute moments that I enjoyed, but overall, this wasn't for me, but to be fair I wasn't expecting a politically driven story. I feel like the main goal of this story was to demonize Republicans. To each their own.
